What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
headChopper: I am playing multiple lineups in large-field flagship GPPs. I plan on sticking pretty chalky at pitcher with the guys currently projected for the highest ownership: Dustin May, Jack Flaherty, and Ronel Blanco. Hitting is where I can get different. Even though this is a small slate, it looks to me like 8 or 9 of the 12 offenses are extremely viable to stack in GPPs, so I plan on being underweight on a chalky Dodgers offense and overweight on teams sitting at the lower end of the projected team totals.
boggslite: Large-field tournaments – This is a rough pitching slate, which should lead to some big scoring in several games. My focus will be on the bats, where I plan to spread my exposure around to plenty of teams, hoping one or more score enough runs to break the slate. I will do my best to get Jack Flaherty in as many lineups as possible, but I’m more than willing to spend down at pitcher and take on some risk in order to load up my bats, as I don’t see much separation from any of the pitchers cheaper than Flaherty.
ebeimfohr: This slate has some of the best spend-up bats of the year, with elite hitters on elite offenses in the best spots on the board. However, we know that the field is very opposed to punting pitching and spending down on shaky options, especially in smaller-field, single-entry style of tournaments. That creates a beautiful path to tournament success in those contests, particularly on a slate with a pretty poor overall pitching pool, especially at the top end.
ncorfield8k: Large-field tournaments – I’ll eat the chalk at pitcher and get different with my stacks. There are some high-upside stacks projected for single-digit ownership. I particularly like the Reds and Orioles.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
