MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, August 12th
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
Alex Sonty: Aaron Judge
headChopper: Aaron Judge
TheLuuch: Giancarlo Stanton (FD) / Aaron Judge (DK)
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Alex Sonty: Luis Gil – Gil walks a lot of guys, but he’s only vulnerable to lefty power to threaten his run prevention, and the White Sox projected lineup has 0 left-handed hitters with a barrel rate over 6.5% against RHPs. This lineup has just a .271 wOBA and .130 ISO on a 6.7% barrel rate with a 25.9% K rate against RHPs; Gil’s 28.5% K rate should thrive in this spot. He should get into the 6th inning and that should be enough for 6+ Ks. They won’t be clean innings because of the walks, but he could keep the Sox scoreless.
headChopper: Luis Gil – The matchup with the White Sox these days is too good to ignore. They will strike out plenty and don’t pack much power. Gil has one major duty tonight: don’t walk guys. Luckily, this White Sox lineup only has a few guys in it who have shown the patience to draw walks. Gil strikes out lefties at a 25%+ clip and righties at a 30%+ rate. He should rack up points here if he just throws strikes.

TheLuuch: Luis Gil – It’s a tough call between the four pitchers I named earlier, but Gil provides a great floor/ceiling combo against the worst team in baseball. The White Sox have the lowest implied team total (3.01), and it wouldn’t be a total shock if Gil were the highest-scoring pitcher in a perfect world (even though many cards have to fall his way). He has a great shot at earning points for a win and quality start on FanDuel, as the Sox see the 4th-fewest pitches per plate appearance in the league. They continue to roll out a Triple-A lineup, and the Yankees also have the highest implied run total, so there’s a nice opportunity for run support.
