MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, August 19

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

SquirrelPatrol: Shohei Ohtani
headChopper: Francisco Lindor
ebeimfohr: Bobby Witt
TheLuuch: Bobby Witt

Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

SquirrelPatrol: Shohei Ohtani – Ohtani has pronounced power splits this season, with a .387 ISO vs. RHP compared to a .202 ISO vs. LHP. Bryan Woo seems like a pitcher we don’t want to pick on with a 2.06 ERA this season, but Woo’s career road ERA (3.83) is significantly higher than his career home ERA (2.43).

headChopper: Francisco Lindor – After that initial rough start in his Mets contract, he’s back to being one of the best shortstops in the game. Against left-handed pitching this year, he has a .267 ISO and a low 14.1% K rate. These numbers are very similar to last season, so he’s not a one-hit wonder. Trevor Rogers has been a bad trade deadline pickup, having surrendered 5 runs in 2 of his 3 Baltimore starts.

ebeimfohr: Corey Seager – Despite the Rangers’ dreadful season, Seager has still been outstanding in 2024. He has a .419 xwOBA and .290 xISO vs. RHP this year, and his opponent, Luis Ortiz, has struggled with lefty bats, allowing a .368 xwOBA and .271 xISO in 2024. Seager makes for a nice pivot off the far chalkier options tonight.

TheLuuch: Corey Seager – I really like Bobby Witt and Oneil Cruz at SS, but I’m siding with Seager. Opposing pitcher Luis Ortiz is allowing a 37% fly-ball rate to lefties this season (41% in the last 30 days), with a .229 ISO and 13% barrel rate. Seager has crushed RHP this season, and across the last 30 days, he owns a .280 ISO, .400 wOBA, and a 14% barrel rate. That’ll play.
