MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, July 22
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
SquirrelPatrol: Tyler O’Neill
TheLuuch: Rafael Devers
ebeimfohr: Tyler O’Neill
eys819: Tyler O’Neill
Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
SquirrelPatrol: Kyle Schwarber – The game in Coors Field should lower Schwarber’s pOWN% somewhat, and he is in an excellent spot against Bailey Ober and Minnesota. Schwarber has a .266 ISO vs. RHP since the start of last season and hitting leadoff on the road should maximize his plate appearances. WeatherEdge is also giving this game a 15.6% boost to HRs as long as the rain holds off.
TheLuuch: Tyler O’Neill – We currently have him projected for about 20% on FanDuel and 14% on DraftKings. Considering the game is at Coors Field and the matchup against lefty Austin Gomber, I don’t think those numbers are high enough. O’Neill has a massive 71% hard-contact rate, .308 ISO, and a sky-high 39% fly-ball rate against LHP this season. You can’t ask for anything more than that in Denver’s high altitude.
ebeimfohr: Jackson Chourio – Going off the beaten path here with Chourio, but I think we could be seeing the breakout coming for the super-talented rookie. He really, really struggled in March, April, and May, so his season-long numbers look poor. But he posted a 147 wRC+ in June and is sporting a 133 wRC+ in July. He has big power but also high-level stolen base upside, and Javier Assad is showing some cracks in the armor of late.
eys819: Rafael Devers – The lefty-lefty matchup should keep the pOWN% in check despite his trip to Coors Field. Opposing pitcher Austin Gomber has actually surrendered more power to lefties since the beginning of last season. Devers hasn’t been elite against lefties this season like he was last season, but that doesn’t concern me. He should also should get a couple of plate appearances against the worst bullpen in the league.
