MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, July 6

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

headChopper: Yordan Alvarez
ebeimfohr: James Wood
boggslite: Yordan Alvarez

Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

headChopper: Andy Pages – I was going to list Yordan Alvarez here because he has been the best hitter in the game through the first half of the season and is in another good spot tonight, but Beimfohr also has him listed, so I do not want to be redundant. Instead, I’ll list my favorite hitter from my favorite stack. Pages gets the platoon advantage against a weak left-hander, Kyle Freeland, and Pages has been great against LHP this season, with a .225 ISO in 104 plate appearances. The Dodgers have a massive implied team total, exceeding everyone else by nearly a full run. And I’m certainly not telling you to build your lineup around BvP, but when I look at the righties on the Dodgers and want a tiebreaker between several good options, I see that Pages has 10 at-bats against this pitcher, with 0 strikeouts and 4 extra-base hits. It’s just a little tiebreaker for me.

ebeimfohr: Yordan Alvarez – Yordan is my top bat of the slate alongside James Wood, but his ownership projects just behind a few others. He certainly won’t be “low” owned, but I am comfortable with the number we are getting on the best hitter in baseball this season who will be facing Miles Mikolas and a dreadful Nats bullpen. Their ‘pen has been overworked recently, and according to our MLB weather report, it is going to be hot and extremely muggy in Washington, with some storms around. Yordan has the highest xwOBA in baseball by an insane 53 points over Juan Soto, and his league-leading 189 wRC+ is 35 points ahead of Soto.

boggslite: Yordan Alvarez – He owns a .476 wOBA and .325 ISO against RHP this season and should improve upon those numbers tonight facing a weak righty, Miles Mikolas, who has managed to strike out just 12.3% of the lefties he has faced. Assuming the weather holds up in Washington, 5+ at-bats against a hittable righty and a beatable bullpen make Alvarez a solid overall option to pay up for.
