What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
headChopper: I’m going to be playing smaller-field tournaments on both sites that have single and/or limited entries. I haven’t plugged in the numbers yet, but it looks like fading Jacob deGrom is a viable path to getting different. There are lots of pitching options on this slate, and I’m not sure you lose too much if you don’t play deGrom. In the hitting department, I can certainly get away from the Royals and Reds chalk, even if I just one-off a batter from each lineup. I’m not even sure on this type of slate that I need a full 5-man stack on DraftKings or a 4-man stack on FanDuel.
boggslite: Large-field tournaments – I plan to have a narrow pitching pool with Jacob deGrom, Cristopher Sanchez, and Yusei Kikuchi as my main targets. All three have solid matchups in great pitching environments, and I don’t see as much upside elsewhere. My focus on bats will be on the Red Sox, Reds, and Blue Jays, while also having some exposure to the Rockies and Marlins.
ebeimfohr: This slate has a ton of playable pitching options, which leaves a pretty tight player pool on the hitting side for me. I’ll be focusing on smaller-field tournaments with a tight hitting pool against the smaller group of vulnerable arms and looking to find the pitchers who may be slipping through the ownership cracks a bit given all of the options.
