MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Saturday, July 6

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

Alex Sonty: Elly De La Cruz
Krayton: Gunnar Henderson
tcsmith031: Elly De La Cruz
TJ Zwarych: Gunnar Henderson

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Alex Sonty: Garrett Crochet – Finding the salary to play Crochet is simple, so he’s probably gonna be owned by at least a third of the field. Finding the leverage is the work. And we wanna get overweight on this situation. Crochet has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season — 30.3% K-BB rate, .253 wOBA allowed, and .153 ISO allowed. He gets the Marlins, who have the highest overall chase rate in baseball (37.6%). Their projected lineup has struck out 23.5% of the time against LHP since the start of the 2023 season, with a .277 wOBA and .108 ISO, and Miami is one of the best places in baseball to pitch.

Krayton: Cade Povich – The obvious answer is Garrett Crochet, however, Povich is a pitcher I am really liking in an elite matchup against the A’s. Cheese mentioned in Million Dollar Musings that Povich’s strikeouts have been disappointing to start the season, however, we shouldn’t overlook the 32.5% K rate that he sported in Triple-A to start the season. We saw Albert Suarez get 6 Ks against the A’s last night, and I think Povich could have a similar outing. There are a lot of elite hitters I want in my lineup, and playing Povich allows you to comfortably roster both Gunnar Henderson and Elly De La Cruz on FD.

tcsmith031: Garrett Crochet – As we saw in his last start, Crochet still has a path to winning a slate even if he allows a few runs. His 35.3% strikeout rate this season is light-years ahead of the field this afternoon, and he gets a nice park upgrade going into Miami to face the sad-sack Marlins. Their projected lineup is sporting a pathetic .251 wOBA with an .093 ISO against LHP this season.

TJ Zwarych: Garrett Crochet – His 35.3% strikeout rate this season is true DFS ace level territory, and Miami is one of the worst teams in the entire league against LHP. They only have two players with an ISO above .150 this season, and now Crochet gets a huge park upgrade going from playing in Guaranteed Rate Field to loanDepot Park.
