What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
stlcardinals84: I will be playing around 20 entries in the larger-field tournaments. I like the idea of going cheap at pitcher, especially since there is not a lot to find in the way of aces. On DK, I will go with plenty of “double-cheap” pitcher builds with both Jose Soriano and Luis Ortiz, as that frees up a ton of salary to use for bats. The only high-end pitcher I am using at all is Dylan Cease, but I will likely be underweight on him. Using the cheap pitchers allows me to get plenty of exposure to the Diamondbacks offense in Coors Field after they put up 2 touchdowns last night.
Krayton: I will be playing single-entry contests along with 20-entry max on both sites. I will be extremely overweight on the entire Coors Field stack, and I will be mixing and matching the top and bottom of the order on both teams. I also like getting good exposure to the Dodgers, and I don’t mind paying down at pitcher to get the top Coors bats.
TJ Zwarych: I’ll play 150 entries in large-field GPPs, and I plan to do whatever I can to load up on both teams in Coors Field, as I want a ton of Diamondbacks and Rockies. My next favorite stacks are the Angels, Athletics, and Guardians, so I’ll likely be quite underweight on the Mets, Phillies, and Dodgers.
tcsmith031: Single-entry and 20-max for me. I’m perfectly fine with eating the D-Backs chalk and pairing them with lower-owned secondary stacks and one-offs, as this could be the key to the slate. The Angels and A’s are a couple of cheaper offenses that aren’t currently projected to be too popular, while I don’t even hate the idea of attacking the Cease/Soriano chalk with mini-stacks of the Royals or Astros in larger-field contests.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

About the Author

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
