What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

stlcardinals84: I will be playing around 20 entries in large-field tournaments, and I will opt for a relatively tight player pool. I plan to be significantly overweight on Nick Lodolo at pitcher. On DraftKings, I will focus on being overweight on the Tigers’ offense, particularly the top half of their lineup. On FanDuel, I will be overweight on Royals stacks and will play over 50% of Bobby Witt Jr. at shortstop.

Krayton: I will be playing single-entry contests. One of the bigger stands I will make is fading the Royals. Even though they project well and are cheap, their numbers are not good to start the season. They have a team ISO of .101, the worst in the MLB. They also have the fewest number of home runs at just 15 on the year. I like getting exposure to CIN, SEA, LAD, and CHC as my favorite stacks.

TJ Zwarych: I’ll be playing a 20-entry max in somewhat large-field contests. On DraftKings, I’ll be loading up on the Tigers as my favorite stack. I’ll mix and match pitching a fair amount, but I’ll prioritize Jack Flaherty and Nick Lodolo as my top options while also taking cheap shots on Patrick Corbin and Tomoyuki Sugano.

tcsmith031: I’m planning to play a higher-stakes, smaller-field single-entry contest. Fading questionable chalk on the hitting side is generally my favorite way to play. It looks like the Royals will be popular thanks to their cheap salaries and matchup against Tomoyuki Sugano. I get it, but I’m also not convinced Sugano is a total gas can. I’ll likely cap my KC exposure to just a one-off in my build.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (Epignosis)

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
