MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Sunday, August 23

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

stlcardinals84: Yordan Alvarez
Krayton: Chase DeLauter (FD) / Yordan Alvarez (DK)
TJ Zwarych: Chase DeLauter (FD) / Yordan Alvarez (DK)

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

stlcardinals84: I will be playing a lighter volume than normal, with around 10 entries in the large-field contests. I really don’t love this slate, as we have several messy bullpen games, pitchers just returning from injury, and limited fun on both the pitching and hitting sides. My real flag plant is that I’ll be overweight on the Mets as a top stack, with the Marlins on my radar as well. I’m not taking too many bold stances at pitcher, with Cristopher Sanchez far and away the best pitcher available.

Krayton: I will be playing mostly single-entry contests on both sites along with 10-20 entries in some of the larger-field contests. Cristopher Sanchez is the one stance I will be taking on pitching, as I will be overweight on him, and I will be more spread out with stacks than I usually am. I will be overweight on Miami, and from there, I will spread out my exposure. I don’t mind getting to the cheaper pitching options, such as Cal Quantrill and Cristian Javier as my SP2 to get some of the higher-priced bats.

TJ Zwarych: My preference is 150 lineups in large-field tournaments, and I will keep a really tight pitching pool, likely hitting the lock button on Cristopher Sanchez on DK while getting extremely overweight on FD as well. Houston is my favorite stack, though not many offenses stand out, so I’ll likely spread out my exposure to many different teams.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (Epignosis)

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
