MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, August 20
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
headChopper: Alec Burleson
stevietpfl: Bobby Witt Jr.
Notorious: Alec Burleson
What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
headChopper: I am playing large-field tournaments with multiple entries. I am staying relatively chalky at pitcher because I can separate myself from the field with my stacks. On DraftKings, every lineup will contain at least a 3-man hitting stack, and I will try to use less popular hitters within those stacks to differentiate my lineups. I don’t see any obvious blowup spots for stacks, but more than half the teams are positioned well today, which should increase the chances of at least one having a big day.
stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on 3-5 lineups in small-field tournaments. We have another weak pitching slate. I’m going to focus on Ian Seymour and Gavin Williams for the most part. I’ll mix in some Robert Gasser, George Kirby, and Randy Dobnak. Overall, I think Seymour and Williams have a much higher ceiling than every other pitcher. For hitting, the A’s are getting some early-morning pOWN%, and I want to fade them against Dobnak. He’s a pitcher who induces a lot of ground balls. I want to be overweight on the Cardinals, Rays, White Sox, Braves, and Royals, which leaves me underweight on the A’s and Reds.
Notorious: I prefer small-field tournaments. With a lot of young players getting called up, we have a lot of value to choose from on this slate. I’ve found a way to play Gavin Williams, Ian Seymour, and Elly De La Cruz without sacrificing much in the rest of my lineup. That’s my plan on DraftKings. On FanDuel, I’m looking to be different by stacking the Reds.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
