MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, August 29
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
SquirrelPatrol: Mookie Betts
headChopper: Shohei Ohtani
Dean78904: Mookie Betts
ebeimfohr: Mookie Betts
Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
SquirrelPatrol: Tommy Edman – It’s tough to pick from the selection of high-priced Dodgers hitters facing Baltimore LHP Cade Povich, but it’s easy to pair any of them with the too-cheap Tommy Edman. Edman has hit as high as 5th in the order for the Dodgers in his 8 games with the team, and he has a .194 ISO and .330 wOBA vs. LHP since the start of last year. Edman has multi-position eligibility on both sites, and he is a bargain if he’s hitting near the middle of the order for this lineup.
headChopper: Teoscar Hernandez – The Dodgers are finally starting to show off that vaunted offense, and tonight, they face a young left-handed pitcher who has been awful so far. With an overall K rate of around 15% and massive power numbers surrendered by Cade Povich, Teoscar is hitting for a .294 ISO vs. lefties this season, which is pretty standard for him in this split throughout his career. The Dodgers will score plenty of runs, and this is moderate pOWN% and salary on a small slate for a slugger of this caliber.

Dean78904: Will Smith – One of these pitchers is not like the other. None are elite, but you don’t need a DNA test to confirm that Cade Povich is…..NOT an MLB pitcher. Certainly not tonight, as Povich has shown a fly-ball lean and rocks the slate’s lowest strikeout rate (15.2%), highest walk rate (11.2%), and SIERA (5.61). Not Great, Bob! He has shellacked LHPs to the tune of a .260 ISO / .378 wOBA this season. I could have picked any number of Dodgers here, but the moral of the story is that the Dodgers’ popularity is fully justified and I will be leaning in on it heavily.
ebeimfohr: Jarren Duran – We are going to ride the heater with Duran at low projected ownership against an overrated Bowden Francis. Duran has elite upside with solid power and high-end stolen base upside. This should be a great matchup for both players, with the field giving Francis a lot of credit from a small sample of strong performances.
