Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

headChopper: I am playing small-field tournaments with 1 lineup on each site. Pitching is a wild card. There are only a few options I wouldn’t touch, but everyone else is in play, and no one is particularly expensive. This is definitely a slate where I want to iron out my hitting first and fill in pitching later in the build process. With the slate being small and the pitching generally looking pretty good, I don’t feel the need to force any particular stack. Stacks may not be the optimal path tonight. My hitters might just be spread around the slate. That said, I do think I’ll end up with at least two Boston power bats in my lineup.

stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on small-field tournaments. With the lack of pitching options, I find myself building 1-3 lineups for single-entry tournaments. I’m looking to use Eury Perez and Sonny Gray over Nolan McLean. I think McLean is one of the most-talented pitchers on the slate, but the Marlins don’t strike out a lot. The projected lineup has an 18% strikeout rate against RHP this season. I’m going to be overweight on the Red Sox and Pirates.

Notorious: I prefer small-field tournaments. While I like the Red Sox, I do worry about their ownership. I would rather stack the Braves and then look to pick my spots with the Red Sox. I do think the Braves offer more upside as a stack. I’m going to eat the chalk at SP1 with Nolan McLean. Since I’m playing small-field tournaments, I don’t have to get super contrarian.
