What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
headChopper: I’m playing single- and limited-entry GPPs with smaller fields, and that’s how my lineup will be built. I don’t think I can get very different at pitcher on this small slate with so many good arms, so I’ll need to differentiate with my hitting. I don’t expect to have a stack of more than three batters, and that approach might help me get away from the field a bit. I may go with a couple of mini stacks and then find a one-off hitter who has low pOWN%. Early on, it’s looking like it could be one of these Tampa hitters.
Dean78904: I’ll mostly focus on single-entry and small-field contests. I expect to have at least one of Framber Valdez or Max Fried in every lineup I make. On DK, if I really need the salary for hitters, I’ll look to Ryan Pepiot as an SP2. We have a small slate with a lot of ground-ball pitchers who keep the ball in the park. I’ll try to homer hunt, which will likely lead me to 3-3-2 or 3-3-1-1 type lineup constructions.
ebeimfohr: Small slates in this 5-game range are maybe my favorite for small-field tournaments. Ownership gets extremely condensed and exploitable in those contests, and that creates exploitable opportunities. Tonight, that is very much the case, and if we are willing to get away from the chalk spend-up pitching duo, we can instantly create some unique lineups with mega upside.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
