MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, September 12
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
SquirrelPatrol: CJ Abrams
headChopper: CJ Abrams
Dean78904: Aaron Judge
ebeimfohr: Aaron Judge
Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
SquirrelPatrol: Jake Burger – Burger has a .380 wOBA and .299 ISO since the All-Star Break, but his price hasn’t adjusted nearly enough. As a Marlin, he’s unlikely to see very high pOWN%, but he gets the platoon advantage against LHP Mitchell Parker, and Burger has a .274 ISO and .343 wOBA vs. LHP since the start of last year.
headChopper: Tyler O’Neill – He has a .417 ISO vs. left-handed pitching this season. That’s not his wOBA; it’s his ISO. This has been a trend for O’Neill in his career — he smashes left-handed pitching. Against lefties this season, O’Neill has a 51.3% fly-ball rate. That’s good for hitting home runs. You know what else is good for hitters hitting home runs? When the pitcher gives up fly balls for power. Nestor Cortes allows the highest launch angle in baseball at 22.8 degrees.

Dean78904: Tyler O’Neill – What a hypocrite I am to write up Nestor Cortes and then highlight his opposition. This is the nature of the slate and speaks to how much Tyler has mashed southpaws. The Red Sox slugger has a whopping .438 ISO / .486 wOBA / 218 wRC+ vs. LHPs this season. Putting that in perspective, O’Neil has MLB’s highest ISO vs. LHPs in MLB for those with 140+ ABs. You absolutely don’t have to force this, but officially, this slate is small enough that I don’t think it is completely bonkers to play both O’Neill and Cortes in the same lineup, which could be another fun way to get a little different when it comes to lineup construction.
ebeimfohr: CJ Abrams – As great as Judge and Soto are, I also love the spot for Abrams tonight. He draws a Darren McCaughan, who has been brutal in the majors this year across his 7 appearances. Abrams fills an incredibly weak SS position and brings the ideal power + speed combo we look for in tournaments. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s squaring off with the worst pitcher on the slate and a bad bullpen.
