Who is your favorite sneaky stack on the board and why?
headChopper: White Sox – If we remove the Royals offense, there are 7 teams on this slate hovering between a 4.0 and 4.8 team total. Only the Royals are above that, with the Pirates and Dodgers below. On a small slate, everyone is packed in, but the White Sox have been a really good offensive team since the All-Star Break. According to the RotoGrinders stack tool, they’re projected to gather just the 6th-highest stack ownership tonight.
Dean78904: White Sox – Taj Bradley finally put together a good start last time out, but in his previous 2 starts (both against the White Sox, fwiw), he gave up 11 ERs in 6.2 IP. I can’t confidently say where Bradley is at or if he is fixed right now, but if he is bad, it likely won’t get much better, as he is backed up by arguably the league’s worst bullpen. The game is currently expected to play in the 50s with the wind blowing in, which has me a little less excited here, but it won’t fully chase me away. I’m not sure if I’ll get to a full stack here, as I only make a few lineups, but I can absolutely see getting to 2-3 Sox, prioritizing the lefties.
ebeimfohr: Rays – It’s not a particularly inspiring lineup, but that keeps ownership in check against an exploitable lefty in Logan Allen. The park is wonderful for hitting, and Allen has struggled with right-handed bats in particular this year. He’s been a bit lucky both overall and from an HR/FB perspective this year, and this park on a smaller slate can be the turning point against the pesky Rays.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
headChopper: Blake Snell – It’s a small slate with limited options. The Pirates have the lowest implied team total and probably the weakest hitting lineup on the slate. Snell is 5 starts into his return from injury and has looked great at times and serviceable the rest of the time. Of those 5 starts (Diamondbacks, Padres, Padres, Blue Jays, Rays), this is easily the weakest offensive team he’s faced.
