MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, September 5
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
SquirrelPatrol: Jorge Soler
headChopper: Jorge Soler
Dean78904: Kyle Schwarber
ebeimfohr: Jorge Soler
Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
SquirrelPatrol: Kyle Schwarber – We’ve recently seen how Schwarber can break a slate when he hit 3 HRs on Tuesday, and he added another HR yesterday. Schwarber should be leading off on the road against Miami, maximizing his opportunities for plate appearances, and he now has a .277 ISO vs. RHP since the start of last season.
headChopper: Jorge Soler — Atlanta will be chalky, and that’s fine with me. Within that lineup, Soler could slip down to the 5th-highest-owned Braves hitter (that’s the current ownership projection). He has a .219 ISO and a 54.2% hard-hit rate against lefties this season, following a great split last year and much of his career. Then there’s Gomber, who strikes out only 16.7% of the righties he faces.

Dean78904: Matt Olson – The Braves will almost definitely be the most popular team on the slate. You’re probably not, but some people try and avoid L vs. L matchups. Here is a reminder not to, as opposing LHP Austin Gomber has shown to be reverse splitsy (.253 ISO / .376 wOBA), dating back to last season. Additionally, 9 of Olson’s 25 HRs have come off southpaws this season as he has been distinctly vs. left-handers (.258 ISO / .366 wOBA). To be clear, that is not the case over his career, but I’m just making it clear that I’m first leaning in before running away from this L vs. L matchup.
ebeimfohr: Fernando Tatis Jr. – With Tatis just getting back from a lengthy absence and his offense not being the most popular team to stack in DFS, I suspect we get a bit of an ownership discount on the young superstar despite a pristine matchup. He is one of the very best hitters in all of baseball, and Casey Mize has allowed a wOBA over .350 to right-handed bats.
