What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: The way I see this slate is that if you want to play the Blue Jays, MME is the better format, where their ownership gets a bit muted. If you want to fade the Blue Jays, smaller-field contests are the way to go. I am going to do both, but my first stop is single-entry contests where I’ll pivot off the Blue Jays. I don’t even like the word ‘fade’ for tonight, because that generally means you’re thinking that chalk is going to fail. I don’t think Toronto fails; I think they score another 15 runs, but there are a small handful of teams that just maybe can match that and with more concentrated scoring. I’ll be heaviest on the Rockies, Red Sox, and Dodgers, along with some darts tossed at the Cubs and Angels. In non-Toronto lineups, I won’t be the least bit concerned about pitching ownership.
headChopper: I’m playing almost exclusively smaller-field contests tonight—one lineup on DraftKings and a few on FanDuel, all in limited-entry formats. That allows me to eat some chalk without needing to get as different as I would in large-field contests. I’m still on Toronto as a stack just like last night—it’s hard to get away from that. Once again, the key to separating will be pitching. It didn’t work out for me last night, as my options flopped, but tonight, I’m going under the field on Garrett Crochet and over the field on some arms who are projecting for lower ownership. That’s my best path to getting different.
Dean78904: I mostly focus on single-entry and smaller-field contests. I really want to get away from chalky Toronto, but I just can’t justify a full fade. A key point that I want to stress is that Colorado has two lefties in their bullpen, and both threw at least 43 pitches last night, so barring something unforeseen, I’m expecting Colorado pitching to be exclusively right-handed. This suggests the fringe Blue Jays are less likely to get pinch-hit for. If I had one big spend on Toronto, I want Daulton Varsho. As for SPs, I don’t have any musts, but ideally I won’t have to stray from Shota Imanaga, Bryan Woo, and Garrett Crochet. That said, if I’m desperate for salary on DK, I’ll give Yu Darvish a whirl.
