MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Wednesday, July 10
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
SquirrelPatrol: Corey Seager
stevietpfl: Corey Seager
TheLuuch: Tyler O’Neill
Alex Sonty: Corey Seager
Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
SquirrelPatrol: Corey Seager – Seager has a prime matchup against Griffin Canning, who has allowed a .513 SLG% and 1.89 HR/9 to left-handed hitters this season. Seager hits righties well with a .388 wOBA vs. RHP this year, and Texas is hitting on the road in Angel Stadium, which boosts HR at the 6th-highest rate over the past 3 years according to MLB park factors.
stevietpfl: Tyler O’Neill – This season, O’Neill has a .353 ISO with a .481 wOBA and a 73.8% hard-hit rate against left-handed pitching. He has a 1.146 OPS, and he’s hitting .333 with 12 extra-base hits in 69 at-bats. His biggest issue is his 32.1% strikeout rate against lefties. That’s where J.P. Sears comes in. Sears has a 15.1% strikeout rate with an 18.1% whiff rate against righties this season. Over the last month, Sears has a 12% strikeout rate with a 14.7% whiff rate against righties. This season, Sears is allowing a .205 ISO with a .353 wOBA to right-handed hitters.
TheLuuch: Tyler O’Neill – Southpaw JP Sears has been pretty, pretty, pretty good against lefties this season, but it’s the same old story vs. righties for him. He’s given up a .205 ISO, .353 wOBA, and a 10% barrel rate against them, and all of those numbers have become even worse across the last month now that temperatures are way up across the country. O’Neill has been crushing LHP this season, sporting a .353 ISO, 73% hard-hit rate, and a 19% barrel rate against them.
Alex Sonty: Marcell Ozuna – Since July 1, 2023, Ozuna is 2nd in MLB in HRs (47), 4th in ISO (.292), and 3rd in barrel rate (17.9%). Outside of Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, it’s safe to say that he’s been the best power bat in the league over about the last calendar year. He gets to face Slade Cecconi, who has allowed the most HR/9 on the slate this season (1.74) on the highest barrel rate allowed (10.1%) — 13.1% to right-handed hitters — while Ozuna has a 17.3% barrel rate this season against RHPs.
