What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: I prefer large-field tournaments. I do not want to fade the Giants, and their ownership will be more extreme in smaller-field and single-entry tournaments. I’ll play MME so I can get over the field on the Giants while taking shots on my other favorite offenses in the single-entry contests. My favorite pivots are the Rockies and Angels, and then I like getting to high-end one-offs like Cal Raleigh and Aaron Judge. Anywhere it’s possible, I prefer to spend up for MacKenzie Gore and Max Fried, knowing that most of the ownership will likely flow to Lance McCullers and Dylan Cease.
headChopper: I’m playing small fields with limited entries—that’s what I enjoy playing right now in MLB. I will say, this slate really lends itself to multi-entering large-field GPPs due to the volatile nature of the pitching and all of the good hitting. But in those smaller fields, it allows me to play some chalk, like the Giants, and still win. Where I’ll try to get different is with the three or four hitters I play who are not Giants. If I can find cheaper hitters to fill out that part of my roster, it might allow me to get up to Max Fried, who isn’t getting much pOWN% but has to be the odds-on favorite to lead the slate in scoring among pitchers.
stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on small-field contests. I’m going to be underweight on Dylan Cease and the Giants. With this stand, I don’t feel like I need to play a lot of teams. I will build 3-5 teams focusing on the Mariners, Rockies, Braves, and Rangers. My builds are just going to be different than most tonight. Pitching-wise, I want to spend up for MacKenzie Gore or Max Fried as much as possible. With my stacks being a little different, I’m okay with playing the chalky Lance McCullers.
Dean78904: I mostly focus on single-entry and smaller-field contests. I’ll likely have some pieces, but I really don’t want to fully stack the Giants, as they will likely see heightened pOWN% in those particular contests. I’m open to playing a couple of Giants in a 3-3-2 type lineup construction. The Angels, Diamondbacks, Yankees, and Rays are some of my favorite teams to consider in these stacks. I’m going to try to get over the field on Max Fried and MacKenzie Gore while likely coming in under on Lance McCullers and Dylan Cease.
