MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Tuesday, May 19

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

CheeseIsGood: Mike Trout
headChopper: Mike Trout
stevietpfl: Mike Trout
Dean78904: Mike Trout

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: I have a small-enough primary pool of both pitchers and hitters that I prefer smaller-field tournaments tonight. I don’t want to have to start throwing darts at the dozen or so second-tier stacks, so I’ll stick with a core of the Angels, Twins, and Dodgers ahead of the Rangers as my main quartet of offenses. I am leaning towards thinking that Emmet Sheehan and Reid Detmers pick up as much ownership as Jacob Misiorowski and Dylan Cease, and I much prefer spending up for those aces and playing some cheaper bats.

headChopper: I am playing small-field tournaments with limited entries and making 1 lineup on each site. There’s a good chance I get different by getting away from chalky Reid Detmers. I think I can build a lineup with the hitters I want and not need his salary savings to do it. With no offense being over 5.0 implied runs and several good offenses to choose from, I am likely to do a bunch of mini stacks in my lineup.

stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on small-field contests. I hate saying that the slate is straightforward, but that’s where I’m at. After almost getting no-hit by J.T. Ginn last night, I think the Angels are the top offense on this slate. Jacob Lopez has been awful this season, and this lineup has a lot of power against LHP. I initially had a lot of interest in the Rockies, but I have backed that down some with a bullpen game from the Rangers. I’ll still have a little exposure, but not as much as I would have had Kumar Rocker been starting. For my pitchers, I’m going to build around Jacob Misiorowski and Dylan Cease. They’ve been two of the best strikeout pitchers in baseball this season. I like Emmet Sheehan, Reid Detmers, and Landen Roupp as well.

Dean78904: I focus mostly on single-entry and smaller-field contests. We have the top two strikeout SPs in baseball with both Dylan Cease and Jacob Misiorowski on the slate. My expectation is to try and get at least one in every lineup I make. I wanted to see what lineups would look like if I paired them together on DK, and while I had to make some concessions, I mostly liked them as they included players from teams that are my top targets on the slate – Angels, Twins, Mariners, and Rangers. If I’m unable to do double-barrel aces, I’m willing to roster one of Reid Detmers or Emmet Sheehan to open up salary and help me pay up for a top bat or two.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
