MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Wednesday, July 31
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
SquirrelPatrol: Elly De La Cruz
Dean78904: Elly De la Cruz
TheLuuch: Yordan Alvarez
Alex Sonty: Elly De La Cruz
Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
SquirrelPatrol: Patrick Wisdom – Wisdom has a career .265 ISO vs. LHP, and he’s batting today in the park that has the best park factor over the past 3 seasons for HRs on a day when WeatherEdge is showing a 10.4% boost to HRs. Wisdom is too cheap today on both sites, and he has multi-position eligibility to make it even easier to fit him into lineups.
Dean78904: Elly De La Cruz – If you were to go to Build-A-Bear to construct an ideal opponent for EDLC, you’d build Kyle Hendricks (he is a Cub, after all). Cruz’s biggest hiccup is his 32.2% K% vs. right-handed pitchers, but Kyle has a K rate lower than 15%, so that concern is tempered. De La Cruz smashes vs. right-handed pitching (.261 ISO / .384 ISO), while Hendricks gets pummeled by them. Even just a walk can be fun, as EDLC leads the league in SBs (55), while Hendricks is not good at suppressing swipes (10 SBs allowed in 80 IP / 23 allowed last year). Add it all up, and Elly is well-positioned to thrive tonight with multiple routes to rack up fantasy points, making him my top play on the slate.

TheLuuch: Elly De La Cruz – We know how good Elly is, and he’s getting his strong side of the plate against a pitcher that’s way over the hill. Kyle Hendricks is getting crushed by lefties, allowing a .227 ISO and .390 wOBA this season. But maybe, most importantly, position scarcity is a big thing on this slate. I don’t hate some other options at SS, such as Tyler Fitzgerald, but without Bobby Witt and a few others, De La Cruz has by far the highest ceiling at this position.
Alex Sonty: Elly De La Cruz – Elly De La Cruz is a beast in high-contact situations. On top of the 15% barrel rate and .261 ISO is his 100-percentile sprint-speed and ultra-aggression on the basepaths. Kyle Hendricks has no strikeout stuff. De La Cruz should put the ball in play a lot — and when he does, great things happen for us very often. Hendricks is allowing a slate-high 1.79 HR/9 among qualified pitchers, and De La Cruz can break slates without even hitting homers. Add Hendricks’ poor power-prevention in the best ballpark in baseball for homers to De La Cruz’s hard contact and speed, and there isn’t a better spot for raw points on the slate.
