What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on small-field contests. I have no issue narrowing down my pitching and hitting pool on this slate. I will build teams around that core group of players. For pitching, depending on the weather, I like Lucas Giolito, MacKenzie Gore, and Kris Bubic. I’m going to be overweight on the A’s and Red Sox bats.
stlcardinals84: I like this slate quite a bit and will be playing 20–30 entries into the larger-field GPP contests. I am taking a major stance with pitching, as I have very little interest in playing a chalky Lucas Giolito on a large slate. I know he’s facing a Rockies team that couldn’t hit Brayan Bello last night, but I think this is a big game theory edge. Give me the pivots like MacKenzie Gore and Kris Bubic for ceiling potential. I will also be overweight on the Braves and Athletics as my favorite offenses, with a game that has a 10.5-run total in Sacramento.
TJ Zwarych: I’ll build for my typical 150 lineups in large-field contests, with a polar-opposite plan from usual, as I’ll spread out my pitching pool while focusing on a tight-knit group of stacks. I’ll target the Athletics, Rangers, and Red Sox very heavily, while nearly ignoring all the other stacks on the slate.
