What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
stevietpfl: With the lack of pitching, I’m going to focus on single-entry tournaments. I’ll be playing the popular pitching options and focusing on being underweight on Coors. I like the TBR/BOS game for offense, and I think the Astros have some upside as well. The White Sox have some value, and I’ll just hope the Giants don’t hit a lot of home runs against Kyle Freeland.
stlcardinals84: I am only going to play about 5 entries in the larger-field tournaments. I really don’t like this slate. There is not much to love for pitching. Robbie Ray will be massive chalk against the woeful Rockies, while the other good pitchers have very difficult matchups. The Giants will be massive chalk in Coors Field too. Frankly, the awful nature of the Rockies is quite a bummer for DFS purposes. I will be overweight on Boston as my favorite contrarian stack, and I will be overweight on Clarke Schmidt as a tournament pitching option.
ncorfield8k: Large-field tournaments. With the Giants eating up a lot of ownership, I’ll be overweight on my other favorite stacks in the Mets and Red Sox. There are some cheap arms I like, particularly David Festa and Ryan Gusto, so it shouldn’t be difficult to pay up for the bats I like.
TJ Zwarych: I’ll be playing 150 lineups in large-field contests. My plan is to completely fade the Giants side of Coors Field in tournaments, and I’ll look to get overweight on the Red Sox, Rays, and Mets.

About the Author

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
