MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Wednesday, October 7
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
CheeseIsGood: Jose Ramirez
stevietpfl: Jose Ramirez
TastefulTides: Mookie Betts
What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: I am going to play smaller-field and single-entry contests, but really, this is the kind of slate that would be better to just throw a bunch of random darts all over the place in MME. There has not been a single team who has scored more than 5 runs in a Division Series game yet, and that could certainly continue here, which means that stacking is less likely to be effective. In a smaller contest, I can just play the obvious top two pitchers – Tyler Glasnow and Max Fried – and then likely get by with a cheap stack scoring 4-5 runs and then filtering in some high-end one-offs around them. My two favorite cheap stacks for that plan are the Guardians and Padres. If I was playing MME, I would dig into the cheaper pitchers and even some relievers and avoid full-stacking completely, just playing all the top individual power bats I can afford.
stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on 1-3 lineups in small-field tournaments. I tend to build differently in the MLB playoffs. I want to focus on smaller stacks instead of full stacks. For this slate, I prefer a 3-3-2 or a 3-3-1-1. I want to focus on building around Max Fried and Tyler Glasnow at pitcher. I don’t trust any other pitcher on this slate. If you want to add a third pitcher, I’d take a shot on Tyler Mahle at lower pOWN%. I’ll spread out my exposure to bats, but the Yankees, Brewers, Padres, and White Sox are my favorite options. I’ll be underweight on the Dodgers, and I expect them to be popular in small-field contests.
TastefulTides: I am playing single-entry and small-field tournaments. Due to my contest selection, I will likely be less worried about stacking and more about finding the best hitters that are less likely to be pinch-hit for. I know that on both sites I will be loading up on Max Fried, but if you are building out more than a few lineups, I would still get to some one-offs of Tampa Bay.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
