MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Wednesday, September 4
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
SquirrelPatrol: Shohei Ohtani
Stevietpfl: Mookie Betts
TheLuuch: Shohei Ohtani
Alex Sonty: Shohei Ohtani
Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
SquirrelPatrol: Shohei Ohtani – Ohtani leads the majors with a .398 ISO and .706 SLG% vs. RHP this season, with better marks than Aaron Judge in both categories. Ohtani adds speed on the base paths as well, ranking 2nd in the league with 46 SBs, and he is closing in on the 50-50 club. Ohtani draws a matchup against Griffin Canning, and Ohtani is carrying +145 HR odds. The Dodgers slugger is expensive but worth finding the salary for.
Stevietpfl: Corbin Carroll – After a slow start to the season, Carroll has come on strong since the All-Star Break. Over the last 30 days, Carroll has a .385 ISO with a .435 wOBA against right-handed pitching. Birdsong has struggled recently; he has a .324 ISO with a .400 wOBA against left-handed hitters in the last 30 days. I love the upside for Carroll in this matchup and I hope he goes lower owned.

TheLuuch: Max Muncy – Muncy hasn’t gone deep in a while, but I think tonight’s the night. Griffin Canning has struggled a bit more vs. lefties, and about 70% of his pitch mix to lefties has been FB/CH. Muncy has crushed both of those right-handed pitches dating back to last season. It’s rare to see someone absolutely dominate against a changeup, but Muncy owns a .429 ISO, .426 wOBA, and a 22% barrel rate against that right-handed pitch since the start of 2023. He’s surprisingly hitless against Canning (0-7) in his career, but I’m convinced that will change in a few hours.
Alex Sonty: Shohei Ohtani – Ohtani is priced out of mega-chalk territory while projecting way ahead of every other hitter on the slate. He has a 23.4% barrel rate against RHP, while Griffin Canning is allowing a .208 ISO on an 8.9% barrel rate against left-handed hitters. The way to get to Ohtani is by striking him out and Canning’s strikeout stuff is basically non-existent.
