MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for Wednesday, April 8

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

stevietpfl: Yordan Alvarez
Notorious: Yordan Alvarez
TJ Zwarych: Yordan Alvarez

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

stevietpfl: I’ll focus on 3 to 5 lineups in small-field tournaments. We have some strong pitching options, but most of them face tough opponents, so I’m going to narrow down my pitching pool. My pool right now is going to be Shohei Ohtani, Cole Ragans, MacKenzie Gore, Bryan Woo, Reid Detmers, and Joey Cantillo. I’ll be overweight on the Rockies and underweight on the Astros. The Rockies are cheap and help the overall lineup a lot more than the Astros. I like the bats in the STL/WSH game as well.

Notorious: I prefer small-field tournaments. Most people are going to stack the Astros today in Coors Field. I certainly understand why, but I’m usually fine being underweight on chalky stacks. I am going to pick and choose my spots from Houston and look to the Rockies and the Nationals for most of my hitters. For my SP2, I’m taking a chance on Grant Holmes, who has a 30% strikeout rate against righties and gets to face the Angels.

TJ Zwarych: I’ll be playing 150 lineups in large-field GPPs, and it’s tough to get away from Coors today when not only does it have its natural elevation bump, but it’s also among the best-hitting weather spots on the slate. I’ll likely still load up on Coors while being underweight on Bryan Woo and Sonny Gray to get different at pitcher.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
