MLB DFS Expert Survey: Saturday, August 26

How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

STLCardinals84: I am going to go with a narrow pool on both sides tonight. I have narrowed my interest down to four stacks (BAL, LAA, CIN, ARI) that I will plan to be overweight on compared to the field, and I will try to prioritize my three top-end pitchers (Scherzer, Wheeler, Peralta). That will require a few value bats, but that is doable on this slate.

tcsmith031: I’ll be taking some risks on the pitching side tonight. With most opting for the safety of paying up, I don’t mind punting with Zach Davies and hoping for some luck. The Reds are striking out a ton (26.6%) against right-handed pitching these days, so there’s certainly a path for Davies to pay off his cheap salary. Rolling the dice on Davies is a way to get access to some of the pricier stacks those spending up for pitching won’t be able to afford.

TJ Zwarych: Offense is very spread out tonight with 6 offenses with implied totals within 1 run of each other. I’ll keep a very tight pitching pool in MME of Scherzer, Peralta, Bradish and Davies so I can mix and match as many different stacks as possible, with the Phillies being my number one overall and Arizona being my top team for tournaments.

TastefulTides: Value pitching is really weak on this slate, so I am really going to narrow it down to spend-up options. That will force me into some cheap bats. I love attacking Touki Toussaint each and every time he is on the mound. Despite the strong K rate against right handed hitters, it’s his control to both sides of the plate. He just can’t keep runners off the base paths. The A’s are cheap, and we are going to need cheap bats to get to some of the expensive stacks I want like PHI and ARI.

Robert Brown (Epignosis)

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
