MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Saturday, September 2
How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
STLCardinals84: For better or worse, I’m fading Blake Snell. He’s very expensive, and at some point, he’s going to have a start where the walks catch up with him. You simply cannot sustain a 2.60 ERA with a 13.7% walk rate. There is risk given that the Giants strike out a lot and don’t walk much against LHP, but the ownership looks like it will be through the roof with Snell here. We have other strong options to choose from, and game theory lends itself to the pivot. When Snell is chalk, you look elsewhere.
Krayton: We have a big Saturday slate and there are actually quite a few pitchers that I could see myself landing on. I plan on building my stacks first and then figuring out the pitching. Toronto will be very popular, and rightfully so. However, I am going right back to some stacks that will be under-owned, such as ATL, LAD, PHI, TEX, and STL that have huge upside and will carry significantly lower ownership due to the game in Coors Field. Another stand I am taking is on Jasson Dominguez. In his first major league at bat, he hit a HR against Verlander, and he is the minimum price on DK and just $2,200 on FD. Even though he is going up against a good pitcher, I will be overweight. The Braves are also a team I will be overweight on, as they are expensive, there’s a Coors game, and there are quite a few expensive pitching options that will keep their ownership lower than it should be.
TJ Zwarych: It’s a pretty ugly pitching slate despite how many options there are. Blake Snell is my top pitcher by a fairly wide margin, and I’m considering the lock button tonight. He’ll be chalky, so I like mixing in other low-owned pitchers alongside him such as Kikuchi and Reese Olson. I’ll target those 3 pitchers alongside Toronto in Coors, Dodgers, Astros, Braves, and Rangers as my primary stacks.
TastefulTides: This is such a good strikeout matchup for Snell that I can’t help but to roster him regardless of ownership. It can certainly be a tough sweat rooting for Snell, but this is a matchup where he can flash that big ceiling. SP2 is where I will have to spread out with some cheap options like David Peterson and Reese Olson. As bad as it sounds, I think Kikuchi is worth a sprinkle in large-field GPP’s. Toronto is once again going to be popular, and I see no reason to jump off them. If looking to get different, I really like STL and ATL as contrarian stacks.
