Happy Friday! We’ve got a big 12-game slate that looks to be pretty evenly balanced on both the pitching and hitting sides. I can see clear lines between tiers on both sides, but I do not see a lot of clarity within those tiers. I’ll try to narrow things down as much as possible, but I think this is going to be one of those slates where we can all come to a different opinion, which will hopefully be mirrored with some spread-out ownership.

Friday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

Well, folks, I’m about to type a whole bunch of words to tell you that I basically don’t know what to say about this pitching slate. We do have some pretty clear separation between tiers, but within the tiers, it all looks very dart-throwy. Or coin-tossy. Your choice between darts and coins today.

TOP TIER PITCHING

• Logan Gilbert vs. Rays – 26.6% K, 5.4% BB, 3.46 ERA, 3.37 SIERA
• Drew Rasmussen at Mariners – 26.5% K, 4.3% BB, 2.91 ERA, 3.19 SIERA
• Nathan Eovaldi vs. Orioles – 25.3% K, 5.6% BB, 4.31 ERA, 3.36 SIERA
• Parker Messick at White Sox – 24.8% K, 7.2% BB, 2.57 ERA, 3.68 SIERA
• Payton Tolle vs. A’s – 26.5% K, 7% BB, 3.30 ERA, 3.59 SIERA
• Max Fried vs. Braves – 23.4% K, 7.9% BB, 3.12 ERA, 3.87 SIERA
• Kevin Gausman at Royals – 23.5% K, 6.7% BB, 4.38 ERA, 3.85 SIERA
• Shane Drohan vs. Twins – 24.5% K, 6.6% BB, 3.48 ERA, 3.60 SIERA

When I look at this group of 8 pitchers between $8,200 and $10,000 on DK, I notice one main thing – they are very close to the same level of skill set. Every single one of them is between a 23% and 27% K rate, and not one of them has a walk rate above 8%. We can still pick and choose and say some are a little better than others, but essentially, if they all had the same matchup at the same salary, this would be pretty close to an 8-way tie.
