Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Friday 6/13
Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate.
Happy Friday! We close out the week with a big 12-game slate that appears to have a good bunch of everything. At first glance, I see pitchers in every price range that look playable and a couple standout offenses, followed by a huge tangle of stacks with clear upside potential. I’ll sort through as best I can and try to narrow this all down to a manageable level.
We have a couple Yellow’s on the board, but the MLB weather should be okay, so we can just start building once we get those MLB starting lineups rolling in.

Friday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
At first glance, I see several good options in all different pricing tiers. I have a hunch where I’ll end up going, but let’s dig in and see if anything changes. I’m going to use $9,000 on DK as the cut-off for my top tier and then $7,000 as the cut-off between the mid-tier and cheapies.
TOP TIER PITCHING
- Garrett Crochet vs. Yankees – 31.3% K, 7.7% BB, 2.35 ERA, 2.93 SIERA
- Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs. Giants – 29.6% K, 8.6% BB, 2.20 ERA, 3.01 SIERA
- Logan Webb at Dodgers – 28.5% K, 4.8% BB, 2.58 ERA, 2.53 SIERA
- Freddy Peralta vs. Cardinals – 24.5% K, 9.7% BB, 2.69 ERA, 3.98 SIERA
- Clay Holmes vs. Rays – 21.5% K, 7.6% BB, 2.95 ERA, 3.74 SIERA
Garrett Crochet is the most consistent strikeout pitcher amongst this group of aces. While it’s not thrilling to pay this salary against the Yankees, he has been completely matchup-proof with his upside, which includes a 9-strikeout game against these Yankees last weekend. He had 12 and 11 strikeouts in the starts before that, so there is no doubting his ceiling. This is simply about if we want to spend the salary on the most expensive pitcher on the slate when we have other aces and plenty of mid-tier options to consider. My initial lean at first glance is that I can and will get to Crochet as my SP1 on DK.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto hasn’t been quite as consistent as Crochet with the control or the upside, but he really isn’t far behind. His matchup certainly has less power risk than Crochet’s, but as far as strikeouts, there isn’t much difference.
