Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS picks

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate.

Happy Monday! Welcome to Dodgers at Coors Field week, where it’s going to be a long 4 days trying to decide what to do with these extreme salaries against the nonsense Rockies pitching staff. At first glance, I see plenty of pitching options in all different pricing tiers, but I am not seeing a lot of offense once we get past the Dodgers. That likely means we’re going to have some chalk here even with the high salaries.

Both sites are including Game 2 of the MIL/CHC doubleheader on their main slate. This could be a bit of a mess, as that’s the one game with issues on our MLB weather report. I don’t think I’ll have much in that game either way, but if you’re playing something there, be sure to check back in closer to lock.

Monday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

Strider of the Braves

Using DK pricing as a guide, we have three pricing tiers. At first glance, I see reasonable options in all these salary ranges but nothing that is jumping out as a must-play.

TOP TIER PITCHING

Spencer Strider continues to struggle, failing to top 15 DK points or 5 innings in his last 4 starts. It still seems likely that he has the ability to get the strikeouts back up, but even that is in some question right now, with the swings-and-misses disappearing. Shaky control and power issues look more believable than anything right now, and all I can say is that this does not look like a $10,000 pitcher. I am not removing him from the pool by any means and might still end up calling him the SP1 if salary cap didn’t exist; I just know that I’m not going to prioritize this shaky skill set if it’s not easy to fit. It is a much different story on FD, where he’s only $9,300 and in the same pricing tier as some of the mid-tier DK pitchers. He’s tentatively my SP1 there, but let’s wait and see what else we find.

I love the consistently high pitch count for Robbie Ray, but it’s pretty clear that he’s not going to be the high-upside pitcher that he was in the past. In a low-strikeout matchup, it’s hard to love the upside here.
