Million Dollar Musings: Monday, July 17

CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first-place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Monday! We’ve got a weird little 10-game slate tonight where essentially everything is just a jumbled mess, particularly on the offensive side. We’ve got something like a top tier of pitchers, though there are no elite, can’t-miss aces. I’ll do my best to sort through and find some favorite MLB DFS picks on both sides of the ledger, but this is definitely going to be a spread-it-out slate for me on the hitting side.
Monday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

This slate can be quickly sorted into two buckets based on pricing. The top five pitcher are all above $9,500 on both DK and FD and then we begin searching for salary with various levels of risk. The top five are not exactly can’t miss DFS aces in great matchups, so any way you go tonight, you’re going to be left with some question marks.
TOP TIER PITCHING AND FRIES FROM THESE FIVE GUYS
Shane McClanahan at Rangers – 26% K, 9.8% BB, 2.53 ERA, 4.13 SIERA
Jesus Luzardo at Cardinals – 29.1% K, 6.1% BB, 3.29 ERA, 3.39 SIERA
Logan Webb at Reds – 25.3% K, 4.6% BB, 3.14 ERA, 3.13 SIERA
Logan Gilbert vs. Twins – 24.8% K, 4.4% BB, 3.66 ERA, 3.68 SIERA
Sonny Gray at Mariners – 24.1% K, 9.3% BB, 2.89 ERA, 4.15 SIERA

First things first, I have absolutely no interest at all in Shane McClanahan tonight. He hit the IL with a back injury after a drop in velocity and a couple very bad outings. With missing over two weeks and no rehab starts, I need to see him pitch well and start to build the pitch count back up before I jump on board here.
Even without an injury to McClanahan, Jesus Luzardo has the best skill set on this slate. His strikeouts are well above McClanahan’s this season, and his control is better as well. While the matchup isn’t ideal, he’s been mowing down good opponents easily, with four straight starts of 8-9 strikeouts, which includes a start against these Cardinals. At first glance, Luzardo looks like an SP1, but let’s take a look at Mr. Gilbert before making that determination.
