Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Monday 6/30
Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate.
Happy Monday! We kick off the week with a mid-sized slate that is slightly different between the sites. DK is starting at the usual 7:07 PM ET, while FD is starting a little earlier at 6:35 PM ET to include 2 extra games. Both of these slates have some good pitching options, with FD adding Zack Wheeler along with Garrett Crochet, Carlos Rodon, and Logan Webb. After the aces, we find more good pitching as we move down the line, which leaves us with a very jumbled hitting slate.
The MLB weather looks likely to cooperate everywhere tonight, though we’ll need to double-check the SD/PHI game again this afternoon before locking Wheeler into lineups.

Monday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
This is an absolutely fantastic pitching slate, with options that look playable in every pricing tier. When adding in salary, I have to list all 12 pitchers on the DK slate tonight. We’ll put them in three different buckets based on salary:
TOP TIER ACES
- Garrett Crochet vs. Reds – 31.3% K, 7.2% BB, 2.06 ERA, 2.89 SIERA
- Zack Wheeler vs. Padres (FD) – 32.9% K, 6.5% BB, 2.55 ERA, 2.71 SIERA
- Carlos Rodon at Blue Jays – 29.7% K, 8.5% BB, 2.92 ERA, 3.26 SIERA
- Logan Webb at Diamondbacks – 27.7% K, 5.3% BB, 2.52 ERA, 2.79 SIERA
These are 4 of the best pitchers in the league, and all are playable in any matchup. However, it also looks like kind of an easy decision tonight. Zack Wheeler, Carlos Rodon, and Logan Webb all have low-strikeout matchups, while Garrett Crochet faces a Reds team with at least 5-6 high-strikeout bats. The Reds are also not a big power team against lefties. In addition to matchup, Crochet has been the most consistent of all these aces and really as consistent as any pitcher in the league. In 17 starts, he has only allowed more than 2 runs twice all season, while he’s topped 7 strikeouts 12 times, including 6 in a row. He’s a little bit more expensive than these other aces, but not enough to really matter. If you want to play the ownership game, of course that’s fine, and in MME, sure, play some of these other guys instead of Crochet just in case baseball nonsense happens. But as far as identifying a best option for primary lineups, it’s Crochet. I see no need to overthink it.
As far as the other aces, on FD it would be Zack Wheeler for me. Logan Webb has the toughest matchup of the three, while Carlos Rodon has the lowest strikeout matchup of the group. Wheeler has the best overall skill set, ahead of even Crochet in K-BB% this season, and he has the steady pitch count ceiling that gives him endless innings upside when things go his way.
