Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS picks

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to muse about the September 14, 2026 MLB DFS slate.

Happy Monday! We start the week with an 8-game slate that is lacking for pitching. Coors Field is back in our lives, with the Padres traveling to Colorado, and we also have a Wrigley Field game with weather that is very close to looking great for bats (but maybe not quite close enough). Because of the lack of pitching, there is a lot of offense to like and not a lot of clarity with it after we move past the Coors Field game. Let’s dive in and start with these subpar pitching options.

Monday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

Detmers of the Angels

This is a very sketchy pitching slate, with only one pitcher on the entire slate having a strikeout rate over 23% this season. The good news is your DFS opponents are choosing from the same group of options, and you don’t have to spend too much on any of these shaky options.

The clear best pitcher on the board is Reid Detmers. He has a strikeout rate a full 5% above the next-closest name, and his SIERA is far and away the best on the slate. He’s certainly no sure thing, but he has been much more consistent this season and has been in top form recently. He’s on a run of 6 straight starts with 0-1 runs allowed, and he hasn’t allowed more than 3 runs in a start since before the All-Star Break. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen here, but he looks like the very clear SP1. He’s not quite an all-in option if making multiple lineups, but he’ll be in most of my lineups on both sites.

After Detmers, the next five highest-priced pitchers leave me with only two that I have even moderate interest in.
