Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Thursday 4/10
Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate.
Happy Thursday! As usual, we’ve got a slower day, with just a 5-game main slate that begins at 1:10 PM ET. It looks frighteningly similar to last night on the offensive side, with the Brewers at Coors Field as the clear standout offense. The pitching drops off even further, with no real aces on the mound. It looks like the weather should cooperate everywhere, so let’s dig in and see what we find and then wait for the MLB starting lineups to roll in.

Thursday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
This is the weakest pitching slate we’ve had yet this week, with no surefire aces on the mound. I will put these 6 arms in the top tier, but just keep in mind that it’s a weaker top tier than usual.
TOP TIER PITCHING
- Jose Soriano at Rays – 21.6% K, 9.7% BB, 3.45 ERA, 3.93 SIERA
- Zack Littell vs. Angels – 21.4% K, 4.7% BB, 3.67 ERA, 3.96 SIERA
- Gavin Williams vs. White Sox – 23.3% K, 9.8% BB, 4.82 ERA, 4.23 SIERA
- Bailey Ober at Royals – 26.7% K, 6.4% BB, 4.27 ERA, 3.62 SIERA
- Chris Bassitt at Red Sox – 22.7% K, 8.9% BB, 3.92 ERA, 4.18 SIERA
- Michael Wacha vs. Twins – 20.9% K, 6.9% BB, 3.42 ERA, 4.22 SIERA
Well, yikes! The good news is that we are playing with the same pitching pool, so it’s not as if your opponents are going to have any can’t-miss choices either.
My first hunch here based on matchup and projections is that Gavin Williams is going to be the highest-owned pitcher. I certainly do like the matchup, but Williams has looked the worst of any of these pitchers so far this season. It’s only 2 starts, and his velocity is fine, so most likely we end up with the same pitcher we saw last season, but even that is somewhat of an unknown, with up-and-down control but above-average strikeouts. Because of all the strikeouts in the White Sox lineup, I’m going to say he’s the SP1, but this is not someone I feel great about it.
I would say that the two best pitchers here are the two with the toughest matchups: Bailey Ober and Chris Bassitt. Bassitt has looked fantastic this season, while Ober has been shaky. Ober’s velocity and swinging-strikes are also down, so I’m a little hesitant here. With the low-strikeout matchup and questionable current form, Ober is not making my primary pool, but all of these guys are in play for MME. Bassitt has below-average numbers against lefties since the start of last season, which makes this a risky matchup, but it’s also a decent strikeout matchup, and he almost certainly has the longest leash of anyone on this slate.
