CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first-place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.

Happy Thursday! We’ve got yet another split-slate day with games everywhere all over the place. This is great fun for real-life baseball but tiresome on the DFS side. However, the coffee is brewing, so we are going to jump right into this pitching-heavy early slate, which contains 6 games on DK and 4 games on FD.

I’ll be back a bit later with a look at the 5-game evening slate.

Thursday Early Slate Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

The early slate is very pitcher-heavy. I could make a case for just about everyone on the slate, but we’ll narrow it down as best as possible.

The Ace and The Leftover Ace

Shohei Ohtani vs. A’s (DK) – 33.6% K, 7.7% BB, 2.09 ERA, 2.85 SIERA
Julio Urias at Pirates – 24.5% K, 5.8% BB, 2.32 ERA, 3.61 SIERA

Shohei Ohtani had a couple outings with shaky control, which we also saw early last season, but the strikeouts have been there. He has two double-digit K games in his first four full starts (one cut short by rain), and he’s surpassed 100 pitches twice. Between the matchup, the strikeout ability, and the elite all-around skills from last season, I am not going to overthink this one. He’s priced up, as he should be, and I only take that as a positive to help keep the ownership in check.
