Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks for Thursday, June 20th

CheeseIsGood, a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Thursday! We’ve got an early day, with the main slate being a 7-gamer beginning at 1:05 PM ET. The pitching is pretty spread out, which also makes the offense spread out once we get past the obvious Dodgers in Coors Field. I’ll jump right in and try to keep things less wordy than usual to get this up early enough to get ready for the lunchtime slate. Lunch!
If you’re playing the 2-game slate tonight, we’ll have Expert Plays and blurbs in our MLB Optimizer, LineupHQ.
Thursday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

This is a kind of OK pitching slate but without anything that looks like a must-play. We are likely to end up with some matchup-based ownership gaps, which aren’t really warranted based on the skill sets. I will split the pitchers up into these three tiers, based on the DK pricing:
TOP-TIER QUARTET
Luis Gil vs. Orioles – 30.4% K, 12.3% BB, 2.03 ERA, 3.70 SIERA
Luis Castillo at Guardians – 25.2% K, 6.6% BB, 3.32 ERA, 3.59 SIERA
Seth Lugo at A’s – 20.2% K, 5.4% BB, 2.40 ERA, 3.93 SIERA
MacKenzie Gore vs. Diamondbacks – 28.3% K, 7.2% BB, 3.24 ERA, 3.26 SIERA
I suppose I’d say Luis Gil is at least maybe the best DFS pitcher on this slate, but I still buy the high walks more than the 30% strikeouts. He had a short run of elite strikeouts but is now right back down to 5-6 Ks per game, while the wonky control makes it tough to pitch deep. At the highest salary on the slate, especially with the massive gap on DK, I just barely have any interest in Gil.
The first interesting discussion point is with Seth Lugo.
