Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS picks

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to muse about the September 3, 2026 MLB DFS slate.

Happy Thursday! We’ve got a slower day in MLB, with just a 6-game main slate that starts at 7:15 PM ET. There is some weather to keep an eye on with the BOS/BAL game, which has at least some threat of turning this into a 5-game slate. For now, I’ll include that game in the analysis, but be sure to keep an eye on that one leading up to lock.

Thursday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

Skubal of the Dodgers

There is plenty of good pitching on this slate, but it looks likely that we are going to end up with some pretty extreme chalk. With Tarik Skubal at least, I would say it looks like good chalk, but there are also plenty of pivots if you want to play the ownership game. I’m going to list 8 pitchers in the pool, though you could even add a couple more here if you really wanted to spread out.

Tarik Skubal is the clear SP1 but is also priced like it. He’s had a big strikeout game in just 1 of his 5 starts since the trade to the Dodgers, with the other 4 starts resulting in 6-7 strikeouts. At his salary and likely ownership, you’re probably not going to be thrilled if he has just another pretty good start of 6 innings, 6-7 strikeouts, and 2-3 runs allowed. You’ll also probably be fine with that kind of start, and in a matchup with a low-strikeout Cardinals team, I would say this is a little more about paying for the floor than paying for the ceiling. There is no world in which I’d fade him if I had the salary, but I am also looking at this slate and seeing plenty of cheaper pitchers worth a look. So let’s move on and then decide how much of a priority he is.
