Happy Tuesday! The beautiful thing about DFS is that there is always another day after you wake up and check the box scores after your very sneaky Coors Field fades. I will warn you now, I am leaning towards fading the Rays again, and it could go just as badly, but let’s dig in and see what we find.

Tuesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

We have a pretty good pitching slate, headlined by the Dodgers debut for Tarik Skubal. Because of matchups and salary skewing the slate a bit, I am widening the top tier to include everyone above $7,500 on DK.

• Tarik Skubal at Cubs – 31% K, 3.7% BB, 2.79 ERA, 2.67 SIERA
• Logan Henderson vs. Pirates – 32% K, 5.3% BB, 2.66 ERA, 2.87 SIERA
• Troy Melton at Mariners – 23.1% K, 8.1% BB, 1.75 ERA, 4.01 SIERA
• Joe Ryan at Royals – 27.1% K, 5% BB, 3.52 ERA, 3.36 SIERA
• Ryan Weathers vs. Cardinals – 26.1% K, 6.8% BB, 3.99 ERA, 3.46 SIERA
• Trey Yesavage at Astros – 24% K, 11.9% BB, 3.73 ERA, 4.51 SIERA
• Emerson Hancock vs. Tigers – 23.3% K, 6.2% BB, 3.26 ERA, 3.80 SIERA

Tonight will bring us our first look at finding out if the Dodgers can win some games now that they finally have a good player on their team. Tarik Skubal makes his Dodgers debut in Wrigley Field against the Cubs on a night that leans toward hitter-friendly weather. It’s not extreme and certainly not enough to scare me off of an ace like Skubal, but it makes it at least somewhat more difficult to spend $11,000 on him. I’ll assume that the Dodgers keep him around the same 90-pitch mark where he’s been all season, and with that, while he still has plenty of upside, he has only reached 7 innings 4 times in 16 starts this season. Skubal is so elite that the matchup barely matters, but I would still say he generally leans more high floor than high ceiling. It’s also worth noting that his two best DFS starts of the season have come since the All-Star Break, so maybe this means he hits a new level and just goes bonkers the rest of the way. But my initial lean here is that he’s clearly the SP1 but not necessarily any kind of must-play. Let’s move on and see what else we find.
