Million Dollar Musings: Tuesday, July 4

CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first-place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Birthday to my friend America and a Happy Tuesday to all of you! We’ve got a busy holiday, with two big slates on DK and three different slates on the FD side. After we get through all of this, I’m headed to a little party where I have been informed that the host ordered hot dogs from Coney Island. It has never once in my life occurred to me to order hot dogs from another state, but here we are. I hope your plans are equally inspirational!
I will focus on the 8-game early DK slate and the 5-game evening slate that we find on both sites. I’ll drop a couple quick thoughts in the Cliff Notes about the earlier FD slates. Be sure to note that the main slate tonight starts a few minutes earlier than usual at 6:40pm ET.
With the early start, let’s skip the Tom Foolery and jump right in to see what we have in the way of MLB DFS picks for this Holiday Tuesday.
Tuesday Early Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

The pitching dries up in a hurry on this early slate, and while the top pitchers all over $10k on DK are not fantastic, they do stand out well ahead of the remaining nonsense that we find below them.
Four Up Top (The Four Tops?)
Aaron Nola at Rays – 23.9% K, 6.8% BB, 4.51 ERA, 4.03 SIERA
Jesus Luzardo vs. Cardinals – 28.4% K, 6.1% BB, 3.53 ERA, 3.46 SIERA
Kodai Senga at Diamondbacks – 28.5% K, 13% BB, 3.53 ERA, 4.27 SIERA
Zach Eflin vs. Phillies – 25.6% K, 4.2% BB, 3.29 ERA, 3.36 SIERA

Every time it looks like Aaron Nola has it back together, he hits a little snag that keeps him short of his past self. He is still something like an ace more often than not, but the big starts remain few and far between. The ERA doesn’t really concern me, but the 24% strikeout rate through 17 starts really does. His control is still good, but it’s not elite like past years, and there is just not one single thing that hasn’t fallen off here. I would say he’s still likely to be fine, with some potential to be good, but I certainly can’t call him some sort of priority at $10,400.
