Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks for Wednesday, June 26th
CheeseIsGood, a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Wednesday! We’ve got a busy day with split slates that are a little different between the sites. On DK, we have an early 5-game slate starting at 1:10 PM ET. On FD, the early slate begins an hour earlier (12:10 PM ET) with two extra games.
Then the evening slate starts at 7:10 PM ET on both sites and has 5 games on FD vs. 6 games on DK (who has Game 2 of the ATL/STL doubleheader included). I’ll do my best to sort through all of this, but just be aware that every slate is slightly different than what’s happening on the other site.
We also have a whole bunch of Yellows and some Yellow/Orange from Kevin Roth on our MLB Weather page. At this time, I’m just going with the assumption that everything plays clean, but be sure to double check everything before lock of each slate to confirm.
Wednesday Early Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
The pitching is far better on FD for this early slate, adding in arguably the three best options overall in the two games that are not a part of the DK slate. I’ll split things into three tiers.
The FD Aces
George Kirby at Rays – 23.7% K, 2.4% BB, 3.47 ERA, 3.35 SIERA
Ryan Pepiot vs. Mariners – 27.8% K, 8.5% BB, 4.61 ERA, 3.57 SIERA
Reynaldo Lopez at Cardinals – 25.9% K, 7.8% BB, 1.57 ERA, 3.64 SIERA
On FD, we’ve got the steady George Kirby facing the up-and-down Ryan Pepiot to start the day. Pepiot’s overall strikeout rate is considerably higher, but he’s had a very shaky last 2 starts, with a 7:7 K:BB ratio. I don’t see anything to imply an injury, and most likely, it’s just one of those bad stretches that an inexperienced pitcher goes through. I expect he’ll be fine, but because it’s a 1-pitcher site and we can just play the more consistent Kirby instead of him, that is my strong preference here. Both sides of the matchup are good for strikeouts, and I simply prefer the trustable control and better recent form for Kirby.
Reynaldo Lopez is good, but I don’t see any great need to spend more salary for a similar-ish pitcher who doesn’t have a better matchup. I would rather take the first shot of a Kirby pivot on Pepiot ahead of Lopez.
All three of these guys are very playable, and in MME, I’d have all three but with at least twice as much Kirby compared to Pepiot and Lopez.
