Suarez of the Diamondbacks

MLB DFS is complex, which is why it helps to have data-driven tools at your disposal. That’s where we come in.

With some help from our Top Stacks tool, we can narrow down some of the stacks that are worth targeting for the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Our Top Stacks tool is powered by our MLB player projections that are available in our MLB optimizer, LineupHQ.

Also, don’t forget to check out our MLB weather page and MLB starting lineups leading up to lock. The last thing you want to do is stack up some teams that may get their game postponed or roster players who aren’t in the confirmed lineup.

MLB DFS Picks: Top Stacks for Friday, June 20th

Opto% Stack

Diamondbacks vs. Austin Gomber

The Diamondbacks are an elite MLB DFS stack against Austin Gomber, backed by the 2nd-best optimal stack rate and 5th-best stack rating in projections, along with a massive implied run total of 6.89 runs.

Gomber, despite a solid 5 scoreless innings in his only start this season, still profiles as the same low-strikeout, fly-ball pitcher he was last year. His only real strength is control, meaning he relies on balls in play and luck to limit damage—an extremely risky approach in Coors Field.

Arizona’s offense is clearly positioned as the top target on the slate, with the ability to exploit Gomber’s fly-ball tendencies and the high-offense environment. While there may be some pinch-hit risk in the lineup, the top five hitters plus Geraldo Perdomo are considered safe, and even Randal Grichuk offers value at his salary despite possible limited at-bats.

Given the lefty starter and the pricing, Eugenio Suarez and Lourdes Gurriel make sense as one-offs, but this is a spot to prioritize full stacking. Ownership and salary might keep them from being overly chalky, making the Diamondbacks both a high-upside and potentially underowned play.

Opto% Stack

Phillies vs. Blade Tidwell

The Phillies are a strong MLB DFS stack against Blade Tidwell, ranking with the 4th-best optimal stack rate and 3rd-best stack rating in our projections, and carrying a healthy implied run total of 4.91 runs. Tidwell’s minor league numbers suggest he is not yet ready for the majors—last season in Triple-A, he posted just a 22.6% strikeout rate and a high 12% walk rate, with no notable batted ball skills.

While he was somewhat better early this season, his lack of command and unproven ability to limit hard contact make him vulnerable to a potent Phillies lineup.
Kyle Schwarber stands out as a top-tier play, nearly on par with Aaron Judge and the Arizona bats, and the Phillies’ reasonable salaries make them an appealing full stack.

There’s no need to force in Trea Turner; instead, targeting the bottom of the order can help you build a unique stack with slate-breaking upside while still affording ace pitchers.
