MLB DFS Picks: Top Stacks for Thursday, May 1st

Opto% Stack

Milwaukee Brewers at Sean Burke

The Brewers stand out as a solid MLB DFS stack today against Sean Burke and the White Sox. They have the 7th-best stack rating and Value% in our projections.

Milwaukee boasts the highest implied run total on the slate at 4.84 runs, reflecting both their offensive upside and the vulnerability of the pitching matchup. Burke enters with a 6.00 ERA and even worse underlying numbers, struggling to strike out hitters (around 16% K rate to both sides) and allowing power with a lack of ground ball ability. This is an ideal scenario for a Brewers lineup that hits the ball hard but often puts it on the ground-Burke’s inability to generate grounders should translate to more damaging contact.

The White Sox bullpen has also been beatable, further boosting Milwaukee’s stack appeal. The Brewers’ lineup doesn’t rely on a single star, offering useful salary savers at the bottom and making it easy to build around top pitching options. Players like Jackson Chourio, Christian Yelich, and William Contreras are strong individual plays, but Milwaukee’s depth makes them especially attractive as a stack. With their combination of matchup, value, and lineup flexibility, the Brewers are arguably the top stacking option on the slate.

Value% Stack

St. Louis Cardinals at Andrew Abbott

The Cardinals are an excellent MLB DFS stack today against Andrew Abbott, offering the best Value% on the slate in our projections and an implied run total of 4.39 runs. While their 2025 numbers alone don’t jump off the page, the offense looks much better when considering the full 2024-2025 sample, which provides a more reliable picture of their capabilities. This lineup isn’t elite, but it’s deep with affordable options who bring both power and speed, making it easy to fit in higher-priced stars elsewhere.

Andrew Abbott’s career 4.71 xFIP and ongoing struggles with power prevention in Cincinnati make him an ideal target for stacking. Although Abbott’s strong start this season may be suppressing the Cardinals’ pOWN%, the underlying matchup remains favorable. Masyn Winn headlines the stack, with Willson Contreras, Jordan Walker, and Luken Baker standing out as strong salary-saving options.

With weather permitting, the Cardinals’ combination of value, upside, and lineup flexibility makes them a top option against a beatable pitcher.
