MLB DFS Picks: Top Stacks for Wednesday, June 18th

Opto% Stack

Cardinals at Sean Burke

The Cardinals are an excellent MLB DFS stack today against Sean Burke. They have the 2nd-best optimal stack rate and the 2nd-best stack rating in projections, along with the 4th-best Value%, highlighting both their upside and affordability. Their implied run total of 4.82 runs signals strong offensive expectations.

Last night, the Cardinals scored 12 runs with just three extra-base hits, showing they can generate offense even without a power surge. Tonight’s matchup looks similar, as both Sean Burke and the bullpen are not strong.

However, the Cardinals lineup is spread out, making it difficult to pinpoint a single player to build around. Burke’s reverse splits suggest starting stacks with right-handed bats like Masyn Winn, Willson Contreras, and Ivan Herrera. Overall, the stack is highly appealing due to the matchup and projection metrics, but no individual hitter stands out as a must-play.

Value% Stack

Reds vs. Bailey Ober

The Reds make for a strong MLB DFS stack against Bailey Ober, supported by their 8th-best optimal stack rate, 9th-best stack rating, and 9th-best Value% in our projections. Their implied run total of 4.71 runs signals solid offensive expectations.

Bailey Ober’s profile is highly favorable for stacking against: he is a strike thrower who doesn’t generate many swings and misses and is extremely power-prone, allowing fly balls to both sides of the plate. This creates a prime environment for home runs and extra-base hits, which are critical for DFS upside.

While Elly De La Cruz is an elite play, salary considerations make Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Will Benson especially attractive. Both Encarnacion-Strand and Benson have shown significant power against RHP, each posting an ISO over .260, and, along with De La Cruz, lead the Reds in hard hits and barrels. This trio is well-positioned to capitalize on Ober’s vulnerabilities.
