MLB DFS Tournament Strategy: Friday, April 26th
MLB DFS tournament play is unlike that of any other sport. Predicting outcomes with precision is difficult, and player variance is near its peak. There are special considerations when constructing lineups in order for you to find success in the long term. Each weekday, our DFS analysts will examine a specific tournament format and help you understand the application of strategy, via concepts such as pitcher pairings, roster construction, stacking, leverage, ownership, variance, and more.

Pitching Texture
Max Scherzer and James Paxton are Friday’s top options on the slate and DraftKings pricing makes it totally reasonable to play both of these guys together. I’m siding with Paxton on single pitching sites as the context is almost too good. Paxton will take on the Giants at pitcher-friendly Oracle which means he not only avoids the DH but also gets a massive park shift in his favor. Both Paxton (34% DK, 16% FD) and Scherzer (38% DK, 12% FD) are expected to see heavy ownership but I’m not overly concerned about eating pitching chalk on such a big slate as there are plenty of ways to differentiate your lineups.
Due to a mix of weather and injury concerns Jacob deGrom is an easy fade for me. I’m also not buying low on Corey Kluber in a tough matchup against the Astros.
