Pitcher Grind Down
Chase Anderson – Anderson will be making his 3rd start of his career. He’s given up 6 earned runs over 10 innings in his first 2 starts. We still don’t have a big sample size with Anderson, but he does draw a nice matchup against the Mets who are ranked 28th against RH pitching this season. He’s not a great cash game play, but could make an interesting tournament play. Rating =5
Bartolo Colon – Colon is throwing fastballs this season and so far it hasn’t panned out too well for him. He has a 5.34 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP. The Vegas line and total suggests that he is a decent pitching option, but I always have a hard time trusting Colon. Play him at your own risk. Rating = 6
Batter Grind Down
Arizona
Miguel Montero – Montero is having a terrific bounce back season. He’s batting .291 against RH pitching and Colon has struggled with LHB’s as he has given up an OPS of .809 to lefties this season.
Additional Plays: Paul Goldschmidt
N.Y. Mets
David Wright – The sample size is small, but Anderson has given up a .354 wOBA to RH batters this season. Wright can hit LH and RH pitching well and makes a nice play at 3B against the rookie.
Additional Plays: Curtis Granderson

Pitcher Grind Down
Shelby Miller – Miller’s biggest weakness last season was pitching on the road, but in 5 road starts this season he has posted a 3.33 ERA with a 1.48 WHIP. There aren’t many times when I suggest taking a RHP against the Reds in Great American, but tonight may be one of them as the Reds will once again be without Joey Votto. Rating = 7
Homer Bailey – Bailey has really struggled with the long ball this season. He’s already given up 9 HR’s in his first 9 starts. His ERA and WHIP are both way up from the last 2 seasons and I don’t love the matchup against the Cardinals who have really started to heat up against RH pitching. I’ve got Miller ahead of Bailey in this one. Rating = 5
Batter Grind Down
St. Louis
Matt Adams – I love Adams tonight at 1B. He’s starting to heat up, he’s batting .362 against RH pitching, Bailey struggles against LHB’s, and Adams has hit Bailey well in the past. I almost forgot to mention the best part: he is dirt cheap across the industry.
Additional Plays: Matt Carpenter, Yadier Molina, Matt Holliday
Cincinnati
There aren’t any plays that really stand out here. Miller gives up a considerably higher wOBA and OPS to LHB’s than he does to RHB’s, but I’m just not crazy about this lineup with Votto out and Bruce just coming back from injury.

Pitcher Grind Down
John Lackey – Lackey has a 4.01 ERA on the season, but the majority of those earned runs came in 3 of his 9 starts. He faced this same Rays lineup in Boston a few starts back and threw 8 innings while striking out 11 batters and only giving up 1 earned run. This Rays offense has been slumping and I think Lackey makes a nice under-the-radar play on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 6
Chris Archer – Archer hasn’t been great this season. He is giving up way too many walks and it has really hurt his ability to pitch deep into games. He hasn’t pitched 7 innings in any of his last 7 starts. He typically pitches better at home, but I don’t love the matchup against the Red Sox who have some nice LHB’s in their lineup. Rating = 5
Batter Grind Down
Boston
A.J. Pierzynski – Pierzynski is a nice value play at Catcher tonight. He is batting .301 against RH pitching this season and LHB’s have always given Archer fits.
Additional Plays: David Ortiz
Tampa Bay
Matt Joyce – I think Joyce makes a very sneaky play tonight. The matchup doesn’t look great, but he’s batting .301 against RH pitching this season and is batting .359 at the Trop. Joyce has nice power against RH pitching and has an attractive price tag across the industry.
Additional Plays: Evan Longoria
Milwaukee at Miami

Pitcher Grind Down
Marco Estrada – Estrada has pitched well this season with a 3.64 ERA and a K/9 of 8.3. It’s hard to predict which Marlins’ offense is going to show up on a nightly basis though and they have really hit the ball well at home. Estrada has nice K-potential, but is probably a better GPP play than a cash game play. Rating = 6
Tom Koehler – Koehler has been terrific this season with a 2.25 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. His K/9 is only 5.9 which isn’t great, but his price is extremely cheap and he’s been hitting and exceeding value on a regular basis. I think he makes a decent play in cash games on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 5
Batter Grind Down
Milwaukee
Jean Segura – Koehler is a RHP, but he gives up a much higher wOBA and OPS to RH batters. Segura’s price has plummeted across the industry and this could be a nice time to buy low on him.
Additional Plays: Jonathon Lucroy
Miami
Garrett Jones – Jones will not be a popular play tonight, but he’s been great against RH pitching and is a double-machine. He should be batting in the middle of order and provides nice salary cap relief at 1B.
Additional Plays: Giancarlo Stanton

Pitcher Grind Down
Jordan Lyles – Lyles has been one of the best comeback stories so far this season. He has a 3.50 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP and a K/9 of 5.8. He’s certainly not a top pitching option tonight, but he could be a nice tournament play against the Braves who are prone to strikeouts. Rating = 5
Gavin Floyd – Floyd has pitched well in his first 3 starts. He has a 2.41 ERA and 17 K’s over 18 innings of work. While the Rockies are a much better hitting team at home, they are still very good against RH pitching and are finally getting healthy. I’ll be avoiding Floyd tonight. Rating = 4
Batter Grind Down
Colorado
Carlos Gonzalez – Cargo has great power against RH pitching and a favorable matchup against Floyd who has given up a .381 wOBA to LH batters over the last 2 seasons.
Additional Plays: Charlie Blackmon, Troy Tulowitzki
Atlanta
Freddie Freeman – It’s hard to trust the numbers listed above for Lyles as he has been a much different pitcher this season. That said, Freeman rakes against RH pitching and I’m still not 100% sold on Lyles.
Additional Plays: Jason Heyward, Justin Upton
