Pitcher Grind Down
David Phelps – Phelps has a 3.33 ERA on the season and is not a great fantasy pitcher because he does not pitch deep into many ballgames. The furthest he has gone in any start this season has been 5 and 1/3 innings. He has limited upside and a tough matchup against the White Sox who are ranked 6th against RH pitching this season. Rating = 4
Chris Sale – Sale is one of the best daily fantasy baseball pitchers when fully healthy, but will be making his first start since injuring his elbow. He is likely going to be on a pitch count tonight which is more than enough for me to avoid him against the Yankees. Rating = 6
Batter Grind Down
N.Y. Yankees
Even though I will not be using Chris Sale tonight, I will not be targeting the Yankees’ batters either. This is still an extremely tough matchup.
Chicago White Sox
Adam Eaton – Eaton has been very good batting leadoff for the White Sox this season. He has always hit RH pitching well and has a nice matchup against the RHP Phelps who has given up a .322 wOBA to LH batters since the start of last season.
Additional Plays: Alexei Ramirez

Pitcher Grind Down
Jarred Cosart – After a slow start to the season, Cosart has pitched well over his last 5 outings. The two issues with Cosart are that he 1. plays for the Astros and sees very little run support and 2. he faces a Mariners’ lineup that is littered with LH batters. I like him as a deep tournament play tonight, but suggest avoiding him in cash games. Rating = 5
Roenis Elias – Elias has had some mixed results this season, but he has some great pitches in his repertoire and a solid matchup against the Astros who have a 21.1 K% against LH pitching this season. The upside is there and his price is very affordable across the industry. I like him as a 2nd or 3rd SP option on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 7
Batter Grind Down
Houston
Jose Altuve – Altuve is batting .436 against LH pitching this season and already has 15 stolen bases. If you aren’t high on Elias tonight, Altuve makes a solid play at 2B.
Additional Plays: George Springer
Seattle
Robinson Cano – Cano is batting .321 against RH pitching this season and has a nice matchup against the young RHP Cosart. I expect him to see plenty of RBI opportunities tonight which never hurts a player’s fantasy value.
Additional Plays: Kyle Seager

Pitcher Grind Down
Jake Arrieta – Arrieta has pitched well this season, but he has yet to pitch more than 5 and 1/3 innings. He has thrown a max of 82 pitches. That said, I love the matchup against the Padres who are ranked 29th against RH pitching this season. The upside could be limited, but he is in play for cash games. Rating = 6
Eric Stults – Stults has not pitched well this season, but he has been very good at home in his career and I like the matchup against the Cubs who have a 26.4 K% against LH pitching this season. If you play on a multi-pitcher site, Stults makes a tremendous value play. Rating = 8
Batter Grind Down
Chicago Cubs / San Diego
Targeting batters in Petco is the opposite of targeting batters in Coors Field. This ballpark yields the fewest runs of any ballpark in baseball and there aren’t any fantasy options that stand out here.
