Pitcher Grind Down
- Hiroki Kuroda – Kuroda has had a down season. He has a 4.55 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP and a K/9 of 7.0. Tonight he faces a Cardinals’ offense that is really starting to hit RH pitching well. I think we see a similar stat line from Kuroda to the one that Phelps put up last night. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7300 FD, $14254 DS, $13250 DD, $8400 DK, $74200 FF, $20300 SS, $12800 FTD
- Shelby Miller – Miller is hoping to have similar success to the start that Lance Lynn had last night. He threw his first career complete game. Miller is a sizable favorite here and he has really pitched well at home with a 2.19 ERA with 17 K’s over 24 innings of work. Of the two starters here, Miller gets the nod as the better fantasy option. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7900 FD, $15747 DS, $14100 DD, $8900 DK, $93400 FF, $21800 SS, $15200 FTD

NY Yankees
Jacoby Ellsbury – Ellsbury is still very cheap across the industry and I will continue to target him at this depressed price. He has a nice matchup against Miller who has given up a .379 wOBA to LHB’s this season.
Additional Plays: Brian McCann
St. Louis
Matt Holliday – Holliday is my single BvP play of the day. He has gone 11/26 off of Kuroda in his career with 4 XBH’s. Holliday is also swinging a hot bat with 13 hits over his last 10 games.
Additional Plays: Matt Adams, Allen Craig

Pitcher Grind Down
- Tim Stauffer – Stauffer pitched well in his first start, but he only threw 77 pitches. A possible pitch count really limits a starting pitcher’s fantasy upside. As does a matchup against the D-Backs in Chase Field. Stauffer can safely be avoided in all leagues tonight. Rating = 2
Salaries: $5000 FD, $13262 DS, $10200 DD, $6800 DK, $NA FF, $13800 SS, $NA FTD
- Chase Anderson – Through his first 2 career starts, Anderson has a 5.06 ERA with 8 K’s over 10 innings of work. A matchup against the Padres is typically a favorable one, but this Padres’ offense is finally starting to get healthy and this game will be played in the very hitter-friendly Chase Field. I’ll be avoiding both pitchers on the mound in this game. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5000 FD, $11102 DS, $10000 DD, $6600 DK, $64000 FF, $17400 SS, $ FTD

San Diego
Everth Cabrera – Now is the time to target the cheap SS. He has 7 hits in his last 5 games and has already racked up 4 hits and 4 RBI’s in the first 2 games of this series.
Additional Plays: Carlos Quentin, Chase Headley
Arizona
Paul Goldschmidt – Goldy had a pretty quiet outing last night and that may scare some people off of him tonight. That’s just fine by me. Goldy is batting .294 with an OPS of .872 against RH pitching this season and all 9 of his HR’s this season have come off of RH pitching.
Additional Plays: Martin Prado, Miguel Montero

Pitcher Grind Down
- Anibal Sanchez – Everyone was expecting a pitcher’s duel last night between Scherzer and Gray, but both of these offenses spoiled that. Sanchez will get the start for the Tigers tonight and I’m just not sure what to expect from him. This A’s offense is never a favorite target of mine to take pitchers against. They are ranked 5th against RH pitching and love to make pitchers work deep into counts. I think there are better options in his price range. Rating = 6
Salaries: $8200 FD, $17230 DS, $14200 DD, $8300 DK, $104200 FF, $22200 SS, $16500 FTD
- Scott Kazmir – It’s a bit surprising to me that Kazmir is a -125 favorite here. He has pitched well this season, but the Tigers are ranked 8th against LH pitching this season with a team .331 wOBA. This is a battle of two pitchers with less than appealing matchups. I’ll probably be avoiding both in cash games. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7200 FD, $15620 DS, $14800 DD, $9100 DK, $79700 FF, $23100 SS, $12500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Detroit
Victor Martinez – V-Mart is batting .442 against LH pitching this season with an OPS of 1.26. He has nice numbers off of Kazmir in his career and makes a great play on sites where he is catcher eligible.
Additional Plays: Miguel Cabrera, Rajai Davis
Oakland
Brandon Moss – Moss is my go-to guy when the A’s face a RHP. He has an .899 OPS against RH pitching this season and has become an everyday player as he has been able to hit LH pitching this season as well.
Additional Plays: Coco Crisp, John Jaso

Pitcher Grind Down
- Homer Bailey – Bailey has not pitched well this season. He has a 5.34 ERA with a 1.59 WHIP. He is facing a Dodgers’ offense that is ranked 4th against RH pitching with a team .338 wOBA. He also will see little to no run support as Kershaw will be on the mound for the Dodgers. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7500 FD, $12931 DS, $13750 DD, $7500 DK, $69000 FF, $18900 SS, $12800 FTD
- Clayton Kershaw – Kershaw’s 3.49 ERA and 1.24 WHIP are largely inflated by his start against the D-Backs in which he gave up 7 earned runs. He’s been terrific in his other 4 starts and is the top pitching option on the board tonight. Both Ryu and Greinke pitched well against this Reds’ lineup and I expect more of the same from Kershaw. Rating = 10
Salaries: $10000 FD, $23644 DS, $21050 DD, $12600 DK, $138200 FF, $32000 SS, $19200 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Cincinnati
A depleted Reds’ lineup against the best pitcher in baseball. I’ll pass.
LA Dodgers
Adrian Gonzalez – Gonzalez is always in play against RH pitching and Bailey has been awful against LHB’s this season as he has given up a .469 wOBA and an OPS of 1.06. It also doesn’t hurt that Gonzalez has 5 career HR’s off of Bailey.
Additional Plays: Dee Gordon, Yasiel Puig

Pitcher Grind Down
- C.J. Wilson – Wilson has been a great pitching option this season in daily fantasy baseball. He has a low ERA (3.00), a high K-rate (8.3), and pitches deep into games (averaging 116 pitches per game). He has held LH and RH batters under a .290 wOBA this season and I love the matchup against the Mariners’ who have a ton of LHB’s in their lineup. He may have a tough time picking up a win, but is a great play on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 8
Salaries: $8700 FD, $20669 DS, $16000 DD, $11400 DK, $107400 FF, $27800 SS, $14400 FTD
- Felix Hernandez – Felix is having another terrific season. He has a 2.74 ERA while averaging just under a strikeout per inning pitched. He’s looked great in each of his last 2 starts and makes a solid play tonight against the Angels. The only thing that hurts Felix tonight is that he may not be in line for the win. Rating = 9
Salaries: $10200 FD, $23229 DS, $21200 DD, $12200 DK, $117400 FF, $30900 SS, $17600 FTD

LA Angels / Seattle
With Wilson and Hernandez on the mound, this could easily be a 1-0 ballgame. There are better matchups that you should be targeting for your hitters.
