Carlos Carrasco at Baltimore Orioles
Gerrit Cole vs. Los Angeles Angels
We start things off here with two trustworthy arms in Carrasco and Cole. Ultimately, Carrasco gets the slight edge over Cole for me across the industry. Let’s talk about why.
These two guys are interesting in the fact that one (Carrasco) has started a little slow in the strikeout department, while the other (Cole) has gotten off to a torrid start. In 2017, Carrasco posted a 28.3% K%. The strikeout rates in his first three starts this season were 17.4%, 17.4%, and 19.4%. It looked like things started to normalize a bit in his most recent start against the Twins, however, where he posted a 28% K%.
